When her older brother Thaddeus is mysteriously kidnapped by the Spellbinder, Lydia (age 11) sets off to find him in the Misty Sea. After being picked up by the crew of a flying ship, the Dolphin, Lydia becomes the apprentice of astromagician Ambrosia, who is searching for other lost children, including her own son. Determined to save her brother and the other children at any cost, Lydia will have to learn astromagic and confront the Spellbinder.
